Community LEARNS 2006-2007 outcomes*
- 102 youth regularly participated in 2006-07
- Over 300 youth participated at some level in the past 2 years
- So far in 2006-2007, youth have spent almost 32,000 hours in programming
- 67 students participated in the EAP-funded STEPS 2 Success collaborative
- Participant use of Apangea included:
- Approximately 4500 hours logged
- Almost 15,000 problems and 1000 lessons completed
- 15 students completed their entire learning pathway, an equivalent to learning all the concepts at the high school level
- 20 additional students are 2/3 or more completed
- 20 credits have been recovered on NovaNET, with the following usage:
- 1736 hours spent on-line
- 1522 hours spent in-lesson
- 920 modules (equivalent of a chapter) completed
- 40 participants currently participating
- 138 internship/job placements during 2006 & 2007 program years
- Almost 200 Computer Systems distributed to program participants
- Over 3000 Computer systems distributed to Pittsburgh Public Schools families by Community LEARNS participants and staff during the 2006 internship program

READING
In Grades K-2, 261 students participated in 06-07 SY, of which 173 (66%) had pre and post DIBELS assessment data.
Overall, 66% of Kindergarten students, 70% of Grade 1 Students, and 71% of Grade 2 Students made achievement level gains, meaning a movement of one or more PPI levels. Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation (BGC), Hazelwood YMCA (HazY), and Schenley Heights Community Development Program (SHCDP) have great results:
- BGC - 81% of Kindergarten and 88% of Grade 1 students made achievement gains
- HazY - 83% of Grade 1 and 77% of Grade 2 students made achievement gains
- SHCDP - 83% of Kindergarten and 70% of Grade 2 students made achievement gains
Overall, 40% of all K-2 students moved two or more PPI levels; 24% were already Low Risk/Established or Proficient.

Overall, 79% of Kindergarten students, 57% of Grade 1 Students, and 65% of Grade 2 Students made achievement level gains, meaning a movement of one or more PPI levels. Hazelwood YMCA (HazY), Centre Avenue YMCA (CAY), and Bethany House (BH) have great results:
- CAY - 90% of Kindergarten, 70% of Grade 1, and 88% of Grade 2 students made achievement gains
- HazY - 88% of Kindergarten made achievement gains
- BH - 74% of Kindergarten and 75% of Grade 1 students made achievement gains
Overall, 31% of all K-2 students moved two or more PPI levels; 17% were already Low Risk/Established or Proficient.
